Cysteine is an amino acid. As such, it is a building block of proteins. It is found in foods such as meat, eggs, dairy, nuts, seeds and legumes. It is also contained in glutathione, another supplement. Cysteine is one of the amino acids that contain sulfur, which in turn can bind to heavy metals.
